Pad Man and Padmavati to clash at the Box Office : Bollywood Box Office Clashes of 2018

Akshay Kumar's 'Pad Man' starring him opposite Sonam Kapoor and Sanjay Leela Bansali's 'Padmavat' (originally titled 'Padmavati')  starring  Deepika Padukone, Shahid Kapoor and Ranveer Singh in Lead roles is set to clash at the Box Office on  January 25.  This Box Office Clash is more in the lime light now because of the lead actresses Deepika Padukone and Sonam Kapoor who started their career at the same time. Their Bollywood Debut Movies Shah Rukh Khan's Om Shanti Om and Sanjay Leela Bansali's Saawariya also had clashed at the Box Office on Diwali 2007. While Om Shanti Om emerged as a Blockbuster Hit, Saawariya flopped miserably at the Box Office. So is history going to repeat again?

Akshay Kumar has been giving back to back hits and 100 Crore Films for the past 2 years. Akshay Kumar's Pad Man is inspired from the real life story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, a social activist from Tamil Nadu. Sanjay Leela Bansali's track record has been excellent too with Hits like Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela, Mary Kom and Bajirao Mastani. SLB's Padmavat is based on the story of Padmavati, a legendary Rajput queen who committed jauhar to protect herself from the ruthless Muslim king Khilji. As per opinion polls, SLB's Padmavati stands a better chance at the Box Office because of controversy and publicity. There has been hardly any publicity for Pad Man, the Movie based on menstrual hygiene and sanitary napkins. Sidharth Malhotra and Manoj Bajpayee starrer 'Aiyaary' which was supposed to release on the same day was postponed to avoid clash with 'Padmavat' and 'PadMan'.

Bollywood has witness ugly clashes earlier too which affected the success of the movies released on the same day. But there have been cases when both  films emerged as winners like Son Of Sardar vs Jab Tak Hai Jaan and Secret Superstar vs Golmaal Again.
